Cheap Prom Dresses

Question by Random Monster: I need help with my prom dress please! ?
So I am a slender built. White but not too white and I was wondering if anyone could help me pick out a color that would go good with my skin tone and a perfect place to buy my dress. I am going to tan so I’ll be a little darker than I am. Here is a picture of me at halloween it looks bad!!!! C:\Users\Owner\Pictures11FUN11FUN\ericaa&halloween.jpg

& the colors I have found that’ve worked are like a skin colored type. If that makes any sense! I want a short poofy dress like this:

and I’ve found that works good with my skin tone.
I want straps because I hate to keep pulling up my dress!!!

So my dress is brown, gold, and champagne, complete sequins. Its very sexy, it has a deep V with a slit up my left leg. My skin tone is fairly light but I’ve been tanning and continue to for another week or so. I have light reddish brown hair. I have pink undertones and light brown eyes.

I’m really looking for a seductive look, something that just pulls my hair and dress together. Dramatic eyes would be nice because I have extremely long eyelashes. Any ideas?(:

Question by Luv 311!: Please help, trying to sew a prom dress…fabric patterns?
Ok, on Butterick’s site, I’m picking the B5182 pattern, and Dress “A”-the gold one. I’m a beginner in terms of sewing. I’m a size 1 in regards to dress/pant size. Can anyone help me try to understand that chart they have? With the 45” and 60” things? And oh, what is a “nap”? Any advice is great. Thanks! Prom is in 2 months btw

My sister graduated from this little school six years ago. The school is reaslly little. My sister has three dresses but they are 4 sizes to big for me. My other sister also went there. She will be at prom too. She has three old dresses too but they are so not my style. They are cute but not on my. They fit but i dont like them on me. I dont get it. My mom is making me wear one of the old dresses. One of my first sisters work for me cause she lost weight for that one. It fits. Mom says its too nice for me too wear to prom even though my sister wore it. I offered to pay. she said no. I said i would not go if i could not a. wear the dress i liked or b. get a new one that is cheap. Our school has our prom off from when the other schools are doing it so we can get hte clearance dresses. All of my sisters dresses are under a hundred dollars but the original price is several hundred. Why cant i get a clearance dress too? why is she doing this too me? It is not money problems she just handed me a hundred dollar bill today. I want to use that to go buy a dress but she says no. she says altering the dress would ruin it. It is too big not too small. its a small school and the people that were in 9th grade when she was there are still there! I dont want anyone to regognize it. They are all the same style and they have been in storage with rats for years. The one i liked i picked off the storage room floor and took care ot it. She says i cant wear the one i like cause it is too nice for me to wear. My sister wore it to prom though. Why not me? What do i do. That is the only dress that i like and that fits.
